Bangalore takes third place in a no contest against Deccan Chargers.

April 25, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: Champions League T20, IPL 2010 - IPL 3, Match Summary No Comments →

The Deccan Chargers battery life seem to be emptied out yesterday as they lost to Bangalore by 9 wickets in the most disappointing contest of IPL 2010.Deccan Chargers were bowled out for 83 runs in mere 18.3 overs as they seem a disinterested and tired team looking to fasten the time to pack their bags and go to their homes.
In what was billed as a high stakes encounter and a replay of the IPL 2009 finals,it emerged as an embarrasing finish to the third place playoff or what can be said as the Champions League T20 Qualifiers.Adam Gilchrist fell in the first over to kumble in what was again a repeat of IPL 2009 finals and it seemed everybody looked to play the ball high up in the air inside the boundary to give catching practice to the Bangalore fielders.

Kumble finished with 4/16 as Praveen Kumar(2/18) and Kallis(2/3) shortened the Deccan innings.Bangalore reached the target in 13.5 overs as Kallis was the only casualty for 19.Dravid(35)and Pietersen(29) took Bangalore home as well as a stake in the Multi billion
dollar Champions League T20 tournament in SouthAfrica.

SouthAfrica to host the ChampionsLeague T20 2010

April 25, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: Champions League T20, Cricket News No Comments →

South Africa would host this year’s Champions League which would run from September 10 to 26.The tournament chairman Lalit Modi confirmed the decision, following a board meeting in Mumbai where it was formally agreed to accept Cricket South Africa’s invitation
to stage the event. However Modi, under immense scrutiny over the ongoing IPL mess, was not present at that meeting, which took place at the BCCI headquarters on Saturday.

“South Africa is considered an ideal CLT20 host after successfully staging the Indian Premier League and ICC World Twenty20 tournaments in recent years, as well as the strong support shown for its domestic Pro20 Series competition,” said Modi via a press release. Champions League T20 was to start on the Year 2008 with its Inaugural edition but got cancelled because of terror attacks in Mumbai. The First Edition happened last year in India where New South Wales won the tournament when Brett Lee was named man of the finals.
12 teams participated in the last edition and it was decided that this year too 12 teams would participate for the trophy.
The dates of this year’s Champions League clash with the end of England’s county season, which finishes on September 16. At the same time, England and Pakistan will be contesting an ODI series that runs until September 22.

Champions league berth in contention for Deccan and Bangalore

April 24, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: Champions League T20, Cricket News, IPL 2010 - IPL 3 No Comments →

Its is going to be a repeat of the IPL 2009 finals as Deccan meets Bangalore at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai for the third place which decides the third partipant for the Champions league.

It would have been a rather inconsequential and hard to motivate sort of stuff for both Deccan and Bangalore as they would have been down after a tiresome 6 weeks and to play a match even after knocked out of the tournament. But ChampionsLeague which is now a regular part of the Schedule every year along with IPL is making the teams to go all out one last time so that they can be in contention for another billion dollar event. Its strange that
foreign players in Indian Premier league has got more than once chance of making to the Champions league as they can also qualify through their domestic teams from their own country. This is quite an advantage for them considering that they still have a chance with their domestic teams to make it to the Champions league.Indian players cant do that way as they may not be able to play for any other domestic competition outside the country as they
have a tight schedule and BCCI too wont be agreeing to that deal.
All things apart Bangalore would look to revenge for the two defeats they suffered at the hands of Deccan this IPL.Expect this to be a tough contest as its again not a pride at stake but also yet another flashy billion dollar event participation
