Srilanka gives a sound beating to the WestIndies in Super 8 Match

May 08, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: IPL 2010 - IPL 3, Match Summary, T20 World Cup 2010 No Comments →

Srilanka did the same to WestIndies what Australia did to India in the earlier match.Srilanka beat West Indies by 57 runs by posting an Imposing 195 batting first and blew away the West Indies for 138 runs as Mendis and Malinga shared 3 wickets each.

Jayawardena seems to be in sublime touch as he scored an unbeaten 98 which follows an 80 and a century in the previous 2 matches of this tournament.Sangakkara gave him able support with a quickfire 68.The good thing to happen in India’s favour is one team has beaten the
other convincingly better and that too much better than Australia.
Hope it do not come to the net runrate situation in this group as it would neither favour India or WestIndies with kind of losses that they have in their first match. It has come down to a knock out of one team in the Sunday’s Match as either India or WestIndies have no
way back if they lose tomorrow’s match.

Lalit Modi suspended as IPL Chairman after the IPL 2010 finals

April 26, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: Cricket News, IPL 2010 - IPL 3 No Comments →

As the Dramatic finishing touches was happening at the DY Patil stadium between Chennai and Mumbai before a packed audience.BCCI Members were staying at a five star sub urban Mumbai hotel planning for the today’s IPL Governing Council Meeting. Not waiting for the Meeting to happen,Lalit Modi has been suspended as IPL chairman.

The BCCI has suspended Lalit Modi, the IPL chairman, for “alleged acts of individual misdemeanours”, bringing down the curtains on one particularly unsavoury episode in the BCCI’s history but very possibly leaving the door open for more twists in this saga. Modi’s
three-year reign was effectively ended moments after the conclusion of the tournament final in Mumbai on Sunday and he responded in melodramatic fashion with an emotional speech at
the awards ceremony.
The agenda at the Governing Council Meeting is now likely to focus more on life after Lalit: picking an interim IPL chairman and working out a plan for the future. BCCI sources say for the moment Manohar will himself take charge of the IPL sub-committee. The first few
weeks are likely to be spent in a clean-up operation and a scrutiny of the Modi-era transactions. The actual management of the league is likely to be handed over to a CEO – probably appointed from outside – with reduced powers but greater assistance. He could be
assisted by department heads for marketing, finance and logistics.

April 26, 2010 By: Spunky Category: IPL 2010 - IPL 3 2 Comments →

Chennai Super Kings have clinched the DLF IPL season 3 Champions title beating Mumbai Indians by 22 runs in the excellent nail biting game played at Dr D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

Chennai after winning the toss chose to bat first and made 168/5 from the 20 overs while Mumbai on their chase were able to make only 146/9 from 20 overs.

Sachin (48 from 45 balls, 7*4), Abhishek Nayar (27 from 26 balls, 1*4, 2*6), Rayudu (21 from 14 balls, 1*4, 1*6) and Pollard (27 from 10 balls, 3*4, 2*6) contributed decently for the MUmbai while rest of them made single digit runs.

For the Super Kings everyone contributed well and made it big at the end of the match.

It is to be remembered that Chennai lost to Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural IPL season and during the second season they lost in the semis.

Chennai also hold the strange record of posting the highest ever total of 246 vs Rajasthan Royals in IPL Season 3 and the second highest winning total of 240 vs Kings XI Punjab in IPL Season 1. Also they have the record for the lowest ever winning score of 55/0 vs Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL Season 1.

With this Chennai have proved that they are the real Super Kings and have become the DLF IPL Champions of 2010.

Bangalore takes third place in a no contest against Deccan Chargers.

April 25, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: Champions League T20, IPL 2010 - IPL 3, Match Summary No Comments →

The Deccan Chargers battery life seem to be emptied out yesterday as they lost to Bangalore by 9 wickets in the most disappointing contest of IPL 2010.Deccan Chargers were bowled out for 83 runs in mere 18.3 overs as they seem a disinterested and tired team looking to fasten the time to pack their bags and go to their homes.
In what was billed as a high stakes encounter and a replay of the IPL 2009 finals,it emerged as an embarrasing finish to the third place playoff or what can be said as the Champions League T20 Qualifiers.Adam Gilchrist fell in the first over to kumble in what was again a repeat of IPL 2009 finals and it seemed everybody looked to play the ball high up in the air inside the boundary to give catching practice to the Bangalore fielders.

Kumble finished with 4/16 as Praveen Kumar(2/18) and Kallis(2/3) shortened the Deccan innings.Bangalore reached the target in 13.5 overs as Kallis was the only casualty for 19.Dravid(35)and Pietersen(29) took Bangalore home as well as a stake in the Multi billion
dollar Champions League T20 tournament in SouthAfrica.

Champions league berth in contention for Deccan and Bangalore

April 24, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: Champions League T20, Cricket News, IPL 2010 - IPL 3 No Comments →

Its is going to be a repeat of the IPL 2009 finals as Deccan meets Bangalore at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai for the third place which decides the third partipant for the Champions league.

It would have been a rather inconsequential and hard to motivate sort of stuff for both Deccan and Bangalore as they would have been down after a tiresome 6 weeks and to play a match even after knocked out of the tournament. But ChampionsLeague which is now a regular part of the Schedule every year along with IPL is making the teams to go all out one last time so that they can be in contention for another billion dollar event. Its strange that
foreign players in Indian Premier league has got more than once chance of making to the Champions league as they can also qualify through their domestic teams from their own country. This is quite an advantage for them considering that they still have a chance with their domestic teams to make it to the Champions league.Indian players cant do that way as they may not be able to play for any other domestic competition outside the country as they
have a tight schedule and BCCI too wont be agreeing to that deal.
All things apart Bangalore would look to revenge for the two defeats they suffered at the hands of Deccan this IPL.Expect this to be a tough contest as its again not a pride at stake but also yet another flashy billion dollar event participation

Third time lucky for an Indian Captain at the DLF IPL 2010

April 23, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: Cricket News, IPL 2010 - IPL 3 No Comments →

The third edition of the DLF IPL 2010 would see for the first time an Indian captain lifting the trophy on April 25 late night. It would be the Most celebrated men of the Indian Cricket as either Sachin or Dhoni would lift the trophy after it went to Shane warne in the
first edition and to Adam Gilchrist in the Second Edition.
Sachin is still in the sidelines as he has split his webbing and doubtful for the sunday’s match. It might be Zaheer khan instead of Sachin in case he does not take the field.Dhoni and Chennai super kings seems to be the team with the proud record in the short IPL history as it got to the semifinal for the third consecutive time and into finals for the second time after the initial edition.

Chennai lost the initial edition in the last ball thriller to Rajasthan Royals and this Mumbai Indians team looks a much stronger outfit and it would be an ardous task for the Dhoni men.Chennai would hope for Mathew Hayden to come good in the finals one last time to give them a real chance.Mumbai did nothing wrong throughtout the whole of the IPL tournament and were beaten only 4 time in 15 matches and seems a well oiled team as the Indian players have been the pillar of strength to the team’s success.Whole of Indian followers as well as world over would hope whichever team wins, the match has to be a super thriller to set the icing on the cake as that has been the pattern through the whole
tournament

IPL Semifinal 1 today,Bangalore would look to nose ahead of Mumbai.

April 21, 2010 By: ab-admin Category: Cricket News, IPL 2010 - IPL 3 No Comments →

DLF IPL Semifinals starts from today with Mumbai taking on Bangalore. The reputation, ecstasy, disappointment, wins and losses in the past 6 weeks count for nothing in the last week of this IPL for the Semifinals and Finals.Mumbai would have won 10 matches out of 14 and would have given a sound beating to the Bangalore team in their home ground, but still one dazzling performance can change the face of whole tournament in the Semifinals of IPL T20.No favourites,no underdogs,no advantage,no disadvantage can put in favour or against the competing teams in this semifinals.

Mumbai would have a strong crowd support which should have been for bangalore till last weekend. There has been such a change of events off the field as it was on the field in this IPL.Sachin looks sublime still kumble is the most economical bowler.Tiwary and Rayudu seems to be the find of tournament stil Uthappa and Kohli have reinvented themselves in this tournament.Malinga still remains a mystery so as the ability of Steyn to bowl outswingers in the high 140s.Kallis and Pieterson have been the consistent personnel for
Bangalore so did the Westindians Bravo and Pollard for Mumbai.Watch out today at 8 PM for a Adrenalin pumping contest in the offing.
